#71: Marie Quigley – Living in Fulfilment is a Radical Act

Marie Quigley approaches coaching in much the same way as she does her passion for global travel: with curiosity, openness and an unquenchable desire to explore.

As a Master Certified Coach who has trained with the likes of Brené Brown, Marie can draw upon a wealth of experience and expertise. In this episode of The Coach’s Journey Podcast she describes the mindsets and skills that have helped her achieve success as a coach, as a co-founder of coach-training business Empower World, and as co-host of her company’s podcast.

Underpinning all of her achievements are the values and wisdom she gained through life-changing moments while travelling the world, and she shares some of the stories that instilled in her a commitment to live in fulfilment – and help her clients do the same.

Marie believes that we have something to learn from everyone, and she reflects on the profound learning opportunities that arise when our coaching clients trust us enough to allow us into their inner worlds.

In this episode, Marie and host Alex Swallow also talk about:

  • How to distinguish between what our clients want and what we want for them

  • The changing mirrors we present to others as we learn, develop and grow

  • Contracting with clients and how to agree upon ways of working that lead to strong coaching relationships

  • Daring Leadership and Marie’s experience of training with Brené Brown

  • The different approaches required to develop as a coach and to grow your business

Marie also shares remarkable techniques she uses in coaching sessions that build attunement through bodily communications and deep listening.

BIOGRAPHY FROM MARIE

Marie Quigley is a mum of three, a partner, a friend, a companion, a business partner and owner, a traveller, creative thinker, volunteer, coach, teacher, mentor, supervisor and podcaster.

She partners with leaders from all walks of life to do the inside work, and to rediscover their strengths and capabilities to lead fulfilling lives – both professionally and personally.

She been working as a professional coach since 2008 and co-founded Empower World with her business partner in 2012. She has trained, mentored and supervised thousands of coaches worldwide. She is co-host of the Empower World coaching and leadership podcast.

As an EMCC ESIA-accredited coach supervisor she facilitates the deep exploratory work of coaching supervision, recognises the importance of normative, formative and restorative spaces, supporting coaches at all levels to uncover blind spots and evoke expansion of “who they are being” through thought-provoking, reflective and highly creative conversations. As a former art director, creativity and experimentation are at the heart and soul of her work.

Born in the UK, Marie has lived and worked in the former East Germany, Singapore, Ireland, Dubai and Qatar. She has been a traveller for most of her life and intends to continue this exploration of the world and the human experiences for as long as she is able.
